J.D. 1979, cum laude, University of Minnesota Law School; B.A. 1976, magna cum
laude, St. John’s University. As co-founder of Gries & Lenhardt, David heads the
municipal law area of the firm’s practice. David has served as the city attorney
for St. Michael for more than 20 years, advising the elected leadership through the
municipality’s largest growth years. He also has substantial experience in construction
law, civil litigation law, real estate law, and corporate and business law. He has tried
numerous cases and has handled major real estate and business disputes and transactions.
He is a member of the 18th District Bar Association, the Hennepin County Bar Association, and
the Minnesota Bar Association. He is also a member of the I-94 West Chamber of Commerce. When he
is not practicing law, David enjoys golf, playing basketball, coaching youth basketball and
spending time with his family.
